Join a hand-picked collection of nocturnal singers, joke-makers and storytellers at our next GRIFFIN UP LATE – a post-show jam of music and chortles.
Stick around (or rock up) for 9.30pm on Friday 11 August, as following Rice we’ll be keeping the lights on and making some (very entertaining) noise until late (well, 10.30pm, so pretty early actually, but you get it).
Featuring an all-female line up of WONDER(ful) Women including the uber-talented Elana Stone, Nikki Britton, Zoe Norton Lodge, Sheridan Harbridge, Penny Greenhalgh and Yve Blake.
Elana Stone is a musician, songwriter, jazz vocalist and accordion player.Elana’s genre shape-shifting has led to collaborations with the likes of Passenger, Washington, Donny Benet, Urthboy, Hermitude, Tripod, Josh Pyke and Ngaiire among many others. Her unique and enchanting live performances have served to make her one of Australia’s most sought after vocalists. Since her previous band The Rescue Ships parted ways Elana has spent the better part of the last two years touring with her four-part lady folk band All Our Exes Live in Texas to sell-out crowds around Australia while continuing to write and perform as a solo artist.
Self-described as a “writer, actress, lover of dogs, serviced hotel rooms and cocktails with smutty names,” cabaret artiste extraordinaire Sheridan Harbridge is one of Sydney’s best-loved performers. You may have been lucky enough to see her wow audiences as Marie Duplessis in the award-winning Songs for the Fallen. This year she’s performed in Nosferatutu (or Bleeding at the Ballet) here at the Stables, Calamity Jane at the Hayes, and had punters rolling in the aisles at Belvoir St’s recent production of The Dog/The Cat.
Yve Blake collects confessions from strangers and turns them into music. When she’s not eavesdropping she’s writing plays or musicals – one is about 13 year old girls and knives and Harry Styles. Some call her a Playwright, Some call her a Musical Comedian, Some call her a Silly old man. You decide.
Zoe Norton Lodge
Zoe Norton Lodge is a writer, performer, TV presenter and a very clever lady. The co-founder of Story Club, she is a writer/presenter on ABC1’s The Check Out and appears at Giant Dwarf on the reg. She was the General Manager of the National Young Writers Festival (2011-12) and is also the author of Almost Sincerely – a collection of “autobiographicalish” short stories about growing up in Sydney.
A writer, actor and comedian, Nikki Britton exploded onto the comedy scene in 2011. Her warm, lightning-paced style won her the Quest for the Best competition and saw her recently nominated for Best Comedy at the Perth Fringeworld Festival. After sold out seasons of her solo shows in festivals across the country, she has performed nationwide for the last 3 years with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow and Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase Tours. She is currently working on projects with Australia’s ABC and Netflix US and is tickled pink about it.
Penny has just returned from a three week tour of Asia with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, performing silly nonsense to wonderful packed-out crowds. She’s about to head to South Korea on another tour, continuing her quest for world domination (in the highly specific arena of doing dumb stuff for laughs).
