About

In Roman mythology they were the Graces. Aglaea (beauty), Euphrosyne (delight) and Thalia (blossom), three magnificent goddesses who brought with them the assurance of harmony and contentment.

Inspiration for artists throughout time, now each of the Graces will provoke our resident playwrights Angus Cerini, Elise Hearst and Lachlan Philpott to respond freely with three dazzling short plays to be presented across Griffin’s 2010 season.

A taste of three new Griffin voices, each exhilarating play will be seen for just one night only.

Bios

Angus Cerini
Angus is a writer and performer whose solo works have been performed throughout Australia. He has worked with companies including Playbox, Melbourne Workers’ Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company, Terrapin Puppet Theatre and Arena Theatre Company.

Elise Hearst
Elisa graduated from Melbourne University. She attended World Interplay 2005 and in 2006 attended the Royal Court Theatre’s Young Writers’ Program. Previous plays include Dirtyland (2009 National Play Festival) and Apple.

Lachlan Philpott
Lachlan began writing plays whilst studying directing at VCA. His first play, Bison, premiered at the 2000 Midsumma Festival. Plays include Catapult, Running under the Sprinkler, Due Monday, Bustown and Colder (2008 Griffin Stablemates). Silent Disco, his most recent play, won the 2009 Griffin Award.
