A Note from Karen, 18 August

19.08.16

I have just come from the last Production Meeting for GloriaUnbelievably, we are in the fourth week of rehearsal, and bump-in to the theatre on Monday. I’ve been holding my breath, as Lee and the creative team calmly plot their way through what is going to be one of the most technically adventurous shows we have produced in the Stables for a long time. Watching it in the final stages of rehearsal, I know that Lee, the hugely talented creative team — including, Sophie Fletcher (Set and Cossies), Steve Toulmin (Composer), Luiz Pampolha (Lights), Toby Knyvett (AV) and Brett Boardman(Videography / Photography) — and the amazing cast, are hurtling us towards yet another fabulous night on the Stables stage. The bits that I have seen are already shaping up to be a roller coaster ride of the best kind….I can’t wait to share the ride with you in a few weeks.

Back at the Stables, we are thrilled to be co-presenting Powerhouse Youth Theatre’s TribunalThis is the final Special Event in our 2016 program, and special it has turned out to be. So much so that we are completely sold out! Keep an eye out, hopefully PYT may tour this powerful work in the future.

In the office, our 2017 brochure has just gone off to the printers… I can’t wait to share what is going to be yet another jam-packed season of bold Australian works when we launch on 5 September.

We also had The Turquoise Elephant team in the office this week, doing a preliminary read before rehearsals commence. If you don’t already have your tickets booked for this one you should get on to it now – seeing Gail, Stephen and the rest of the group together for the first time, I know that this one is going to be a firecracker to finish our year.

Cheers,
Karen
